Over the years she has undergone many renovations including new engines, systems and fishing technology plus stabilizer fins for a more comfortable and stable fishing experience.

Destin is renowned for its vibrant marine life, and because Home Grown is federally permitted, we are able to surpassing the 9-mile mark to reach the more coveted fishing spots offshore. It's here that the challenge of reeling in the prized snapper and other spectacular species begins.

Hume Grown also boasts a 3 ton air conditioner and as captain Preston says, “nobody gets hot on my boat”even in the hottest of summer months!

  • Life happens - we understand that, but we need you to understand that last minute cancellations are crippling to a full time, seasonal fishing charter operation. Fishing charter cancellations must be communicated 14 days before your departure time/date in writing via email to destincharters@yahoo.com. If you do not provide 14 days notice in writing regarding the cancellation of your charter, your credit card on file will be charged $200.

    If you cancel within 48 hours of your departure time or do not show up for the trip, you will be charged the total price of the trip.

    In the event of severe weather or unsafe Gulf waters, where the captain must cancel the trip, your credit card will not be charged and there will be no penalty. There is nothing we can do to control the weather and your safety is our priority. If storms or unsafe conditions prevent us from fishing, we will do our best to reschedule you. The client may not determine if the weather is un-fishable.

    • An unforgettable experience!

    • Food and Drink - bring whatever you think you will need. Alcohol is welcome but no bottles

    • Gratuity for 1st mates (typically 15-20% of charter cost)

    • Live Bait (has to be caught or purchased daily) If you choose to catch, it will take anywhere from 20-40 minutes out of your fishing time. If you choose to buy, it will cost between $20 and $100 depending on trip length. **Live Bait purchasing is usually only available during the summer months**

    • Camera for capturing memories

    • Sunscreen, but please no spray/canned sunscreen

    • Cooler that you can leave in your car during fishing, but use to take home fish at the end of the day

    • Light jacket for cooler mornings

    • Clothing typical for a day at the beach

    • Drinks and Snacks

    • Sunglasses - polarized are best

    • Gratuity is appreciated if earned (15-20% is the norm)
